Privacy Policy for Mobile Apps

Buckeye Hunter Hub ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Buckeye Hunter Hub mobile applications for iOS, Android, and tvOS (collectively, the "App").

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

This Policy applies solely to the App and does not cover our website, which has a separate privacy policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

a. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: Email address, username, password, and profile details (e.g., display name, profile photo, bio, hunting preferences).

  • User-generated content: Photos/videos from trail cameras, harvest reports, posts, comments, messages, location pins (stands, blinds, trail cams, etc.), and marketplace listings.

  • Optional: Contacts (if you choose to invite friends or find nearby hunters).

b. Automatically Collected Information

  • Device information: Device type, OS version, unique device ID, IP address, mobile network information.

  • Location data: Precise GPS location (when you use maps, routing, scouting, or drop pins) – only collected with your permission and when the App is in use (or background for routing if enabled).

  • Usage data: App interactions, features used, crash reports, analytics on how you use maps, community feed, games, etc.

  • Photos & Media: Access to your camera roll or camera only when you upload trail cam photos/videos (with your explicit permission).

c. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services that may collect information:

  • Analytics: Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics (anonymous usage data).

  • Crash reporting: Firebase Crashlytics.

  • Maps: Apple Maps (iOS/tvOS) or Google Maps (Android) – location data processed per their policies.

  • Push notifications: Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging.

We do not collect payment information (the App is free), health data, or financial data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide core App features (maps, community feed, calendar, routing, trail cam sharing, Whitetail Runner game).

  • Connect you with other Ohio hunters (groups, messaging, friend finder).

  • Improve the App (analytics, bug fixes).

  • Send push notifications (season reminders, group activity – you can disable these).

  • Moderate community content and enforce rules.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

Location data is used only for scouting, routing, and sharing pins with your consent. Photos/videos are stored and displayed only as you upload/share them.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only in these limited cases:

  • With other App users: Your public posts, profile, shared pins/photos (as you choose visibility).

  • Service providers: Hosting (e.g., AWS/Firebase), analytics, maps – bound by contracts to protect your data.

  • Legal requirements: To comply with laws, respond to lawful requests, or protect rights/safety.

  • Business transfers: In case of merger/acquisition (rare).

User content (posts, photos) is visible to the community based on your privacy settings.

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit/storage, secure servers) to protect your data. However, no method is 100% secure. We are not responsible for unauthorized access you did not cause.

5. Your Choices & Controls

  • Location: Grant/revoke anytime in device settings.

  • Photos/Camera: Only accessed when you choose to upload.

  • Push Notifications: Disable in App or device settings.

  • Account Deletion & Data Access/Deletion:

    • Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account (deletes your profile, posts, pins instantly).

    • Or email josh@buckeyehunterhub.com with "Data Deletion Request" – we will delete within 30 days.

  • Opt-Out: Stop using the App and delete it (deletes local data).

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If discovered, we will delete it immediately. The App includes hunting content suitable for ages 13+ with parental guidance.

7. International Data Transfers

Data may be processed in the United States or where our service providers operate. We comply with applicable laws for transfers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. Changes will be posted in the App and on https://www.buckeyehunterhub.com/app-privacy-policy with the new effective date. Continued use means acceptance.
